some forms of birth control, namely the i.u.d. and p.o.p. work as abortificients, not contraceptives. i don't think women being given these methods are being made aware of this.

in-virto fertilization relies on a donated fertilized egg successfully implanted into a uterus. the chances of success with this are slim. these fertilized embryos that don't make it are essentially the beginnings of people that don't live.

are people aware of these kinds of things? is it a concern? i'm not talking about artificial insimination, or about the pill or depo or norplant or provalactics or barrier methods. just these specified that i would think would interest the pro life community at the very least, and possibly beyond, because, while i can see supporting abortion to minimize standing problems, these other examples are things creating the issue from scratch. what do people from various communities think? (christian, pro life, pro choice, fertility crusaders)

Actually, the Pill and other hormonal birth control actuall DO casue abortions. It's one of the ways they work...if an egg does get out, the lining of the uterus is too hostile to allow implantation, and baby gets flushed down the toilet.

You are exactly right. And that is the point the Catholic prolife movement has been trying to get out ever since the days Catholics were the only ones protesting and praying in front of abortion mills.
Women have been flat out LIED to about birth control, baby manufacturing, abortion etc. And where have all these things that were supposed to 'liberate' us gotten us?

A world of men who see us as nothing more than sex objects. They can have sex with no commitment, and no consequences.

Don't get your self pregnant...if you do, kill it, I don't want it.

I'm not saying all men are like that, but anytime a guy wants to get in your pants....do you think he is considering the possibility the 2 of you might be creating a child? Probably not.

I don't know if you are Catholic, but thank you for having a level head and seeing the Truth in Catholic teaching....that all life is precious.

unfortunately, many people are unaware that the pill acts as an abortifacient.
