If the person got out in time. If the lava flow was from a very close volcano, and lava did not have a chance to cool, it could cause the building to collapse in a sideways manner, thereby removing life from the people upstairs. If the lava flow was from a far-away volcano, the lava may be cooling sufficiently that the building will cause the flow to break into two flows, and go around the building, without knocking it over.
This question is not only dependent on the closeness of the volcano and the temperature of the lava, the limitations and stresses the building can withstand are key to the answer.

Sure, they can escape. The operative word is slow. Once the person had the knowledge that the lava was moving and they called 911 in my city. The firetuck would be there in no time to wisk me off in their tall stainless steal bucket and wisk me away to safety. Also, my city is so people oriented, they would have probably know before hand and have alava watch and most likely there would not have been anyone in that tall building when the slow moving lava was approaching.

Assuming that your speaking of a 2 or 3 story building

Doubtful, even if the building withstood the lava flow the heat from the lava and the fumes would just be to intense.

The only way you could survive the flow, is what your building in made of? If your building was made of concrete you have a better odds, if you take the time to redircet the flow around your home. They have saved many life's and home by doing thing like this, but mother nature is a force that has a mind of it's own!!!! Good luck in your tall building.

No, the lava's temperature would do 1 of 2 things:
1. engulf the building in flames.
2. the building would disintegrate
