Pollution is any thing the environmental wackos deem as harmful to the environment. They neglect the fact that volcanoes spew out tons of poison gasses and ash and methane the worst greenhouse gas rises up from wetlands, swamps and decaying matter by the tons. Every thing we manufacture and produce came from here in the first place and will deteriorate into its original form eventually.

pollution is defined as the change in natural composition of-physical chemical and biological components of earth
it happened due to anthropogenic and human causes. mainly air pollution is due to increased vehicular traffic, rapid industrialisation and urbanisation
mainly the sources are gases as co,o=c=c,0=s=0, oxides of nitrogen, ozone ,smog, acid rains, secondary pollutants like cotton,iron,carbon-and particulate pollutants like dust e.t.c
water pollution due to heat loading, toxicity, turbidity, eutrophication, organic compounds
noise pollution due to heavy sounds
main way to control is use electrostatic precipitators and catalytic converters to decompose chemical compounds mentioned above-water pollution can be controlled by treating water from industries before releasing them into water bodies
green belts should be developed
time barred vehicles should not be used
this pollution causes global warming, corrosion of metals and health problems like bronchitis asthma and cancer
nervous damage, bone deformation, anaemia, progressive mental detoriation and in some cases death
it also causes loss of vision, unconsciousness
sorry i don't know abt India position to remedy this problem

so, basically, you want someone to do your homework for you?
i'm going to help you by not doing it for you, but directing you to a few good sites:
--m-w.com for the definition of pollution
--http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollution
you may want to talk about the Kyoto Protocol(greenhouse gases are a big problem in India, with its large population)
good luck.

Pollution is the release of chemical, physical, biological or radioactive contaminants to the environment. Principal forms of pollution include:
air pollution, the release of chemicals and particulates into the atmosphere. Common examples include carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), and nitrogen oxides produced by industry and motor vehicles. Ozone and smog are created as nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons react to sunlight.
water pollution affects oceans and inland bodies of water. Examples include organic and inorganic chemicals, heavy metals, petrochemicals, chloroform, and bacteria. Water pollution may also occur in the form of thermal pollution and the depletion of dissolved oxygen.
soil contamination often occurs when chemicals are released by spill or underground storage tank leakage. Contaminants include hydrocarbons, heavy metals, MTBE, herbicides, pesticides and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Often occurs with water pollution, thanks to surface runoff and groundwater.
radioactive contamination, added in the wake of 20th-century discoveries in atomic physics. (See alpha emitters and actinides in the environment.)
noise pollution, which encompasses roadway noise, aircraft noise, industrial noise as well as high-intensity sonar.
light pollution, includes light trespass, over-illumination and astronomical interference.
visual pollution, which can refer to the presence of overhead power lines, highway billboards, scarred landforms (as from strip mining), open storage of junk or municipal solid waste.
