Haha, of course not! There is no connection I can see.
I guess they do it to reduce friction with the air, so they can go faster. And when fractions of a second decide, it matters!!!
The same for the swimmers - it really reduces friction and increases the speed.
The tennis players do it to get better massage.
But I think a lot of people find shaving (including face) sexy, so they want to experiment with it because it might give them excitement or something.
