Yes, mathematics is the language of physics. You can try to just understand and analyse the concepts, but you wont be able to go further, or even fully understand them, without using mathematics. Although it is true that there is a clear line between the mathematics of a concept, and the physics of it.

Even the physicists who claims they are very bad with mathematics are still probably better than you or me with it.
