instead of eating a lot, take some fruits and juices, it would be the best for you and your baby. Its not good if you eat a lot during pregnancy because if your weight gains maybe you will have a difficulty during your delivery.... :-)

Those of us who have been pregnant know that the cravings are unbelievable!, and they don't go away until we eat what ever it is we are craving.
I think It's okay too eat allot as long as it's healthy foods.(and sometimes junk food:)) A pregnant woman should also continue to exercise too. this will help balance out your weight, fat intake etc. Every case is different and I'm sure the health care provider will set standards on an individual basis. Just don't go buying two Big Macs super sized fries and think you can make up with it with a Supersized Diet Soda.lol

When you are pregnant you will want to eat more. You will have a bigger appetite and you need to eat more of certain foods to ensure that you have as healthy a baby as possible. But you're not really eating for 2 and pregnancy isn't really a license to pig out.

When I was pregnant I had an incredible appetite, but I was scared that I would be the size of a house once the baby arrived. I tried to eat lots of salads and vegetables and have healthy snacks. I was eating constantly but I tried most of the time to eat stuff that would be good for me and the baby. Of course I did treat myself to fun stuff like chocolate and crisps but I didn't over do it.

If you put too much weight on it can take an age to loose it - which can be depressing to say te least.

Well back in the days, being pregnant was an excuse to eat anything and everything and not think about your weight or your body after you give birth.. So, now it is advised to eat healthy and give the baby what he needs and not what you want, because you are only putting weight on yourself and after the birth, you will end up really depress and with more pounds than you really needed. I mean, women continue exercising once they know they are pregnant, of course, with moderation but they now think more about their own bodies and trying to make sure that it jumps back as close as possible to the way it was before you were pregnant..

Pregnancy is not a time to diet but it is not that great to eat a lot of fatty or sugary foods. Whatever you eat goes to the baby as well. We all know it's bad for you to eat lots of fatty and sugary things, so the same applies when you're pregnant. If you feel very hungry, it's better to satisfy your cravings with fruit, etc.

cravings are usually something the baby requires. With my first pregnancy I craved meat flavoured crisps cos my iron was low. I ate like a horse with my second, but now having trouble shifting the excess weight a year and half later!

the old conception that pregnant women need to eat a lot have proved negative, i've seen several cases where pregnant women are placed on diet, most importantly is to eat healthy and not more than 7 to 10 kg should be added throughout the 9 months of pregnancy.

Yes thats true the old concept of eating for 2 while u r pregnant doesnt hold any truth today.
Technically speaking you just need an extra HEALTHY 300 calories over your pre pregnancy diet.
you should try to gain 1kg wt per month til the 8th month n a little more in the last month coming upto 12 kgs by 9 months.

The weight you gain is not just body fat it includes approx weight of :
Baby....3kg
Placenta .......1/2 kg
Uterus .......1 kg
Amniotic fluid......1kg
Breasts........ 1/2 kg
Blood volume...1kg
Fat.....2kg
Tissue fluid.......3kg

summing up to 12kgs.

so u c u need to plan your diet n not just gain empty calories.(that esp. come from fats n sugar)

As a mother of five grown up children I think you can safely eat whatever you like! Your body will tell you what, and how much of something you should have. Some women have eaten bricks and sucked nails and all sorts of other things!! So just let your body tell you what you need. That's nature!!

Eat sensibly is my recommendation. However, cravings are normally things that your body is short of. I craved rare steak and mashed potatoes with my first pregnancy and dark chocolate with my second (and by dark I mean cooking chocolate with 75%+ cocoa!). Both of these are high in iron, and I was slightly anaemic.
