I can't speak for "trends." I think it is becoming more acceptable on an individual basis for a woman to say, "Hey, I love my kids, and I enjoy making my home a special place to be, and I'm willing to cut down on my work hours to do that... .because I WANT to."
My wife of course doesn't LIKE doing dishes, and making dinner, and doing laundry. Who would? What she likes is having a house that looks good, feels peaceful and clean, and the fact that doing those things is helpful to the people she loves. It's an act of service.
I don't think a woman should be "forced" into such a role, nor that the man should escape doing any housework. I need to do more than I do, but I routinely do dishes, make some of the meals, clean up around the house from three kids, and occassionally do laundry.
(The disparity here is more personality than gender -- my wife is a little more particular and organized, and I'm more laid-back and can deal with more mess than she can, so she tends to leap in first with the housework.)
I think the popularity of shows like Trading Spaces and all its clones are also getting many women (and some men) excited about how they can spiffy up their house and create a beautiful living environment for themselves. Many people are getting into that sort of thing. So I guess, yeah, there's some "trend" here.

Did it ever really go out of fashion? really? its just getting more and more popular because we've quieted down. We don't care as much. The women in this generation are jaded. They take what they have for granted and forget how hard people had to fight to get those freedoms. No one is willing to fight any more, we are passive as cows. I can't wait till the next backlash happens and we become political again.
I think its becoming expected again that in a relationship women will do the housework and men will go to work. Conversely, the men my mom work with change baby's diapers and clean around the house like its nothing special. I think it depends on the couple and what the woman wants to do and what the man wants to do.

I think it has finally downed on men how important that job is and women who do it well feel, act and are treated specially and really appreciated. It is a very, very, very important job in the human design and there are no replacements. I dont know how the stay home dads are doing at it. I am a man and not married and i can tell you i esteem and respect women who take that position very much not as a way out of the equality argument but because i believe it is the truest partnering. I believe a stay home women is truly entitled to more than half of what i make out working.

I don't know but I work, cook, clean, make the beds and all that stuff and it's hard work. I don't mind doing it sometimes but there are times when I just wish my husband will help me out with some of the housework. Alot of the times he says he's going to help me out and instead sits in the recliner with the clicker in his hand and watches T.V. for the rest of the night. Or his latest excuse is I'm gonna go out and clean up the yard. Come on how much cleaner can the yard get.

BEING domestic has always been trendy.Its a real pleasure to play the little eva of the house.This is one of the most mysterious aspects of a woman when she projects herself as domestic.The husband is under a big misconception as to the real powers of a woman.

Because nobody does it anymore and bucking the trend is sheik. If a woman wants to cook and clean and it makes her happy taking care of her family and husband, who is someone else to call her supressed and living in the past?
