I think women wear high heels because it gives them more confident to be prettier. Some high heels make your feet hurt but others are really comfortable. High heels make a woman feel like she can be beautiful with that new skirt. Some people wear high heels because it is the new"it". Personally I can never wear high heels without getting a blister for just trying it out or falling. Two of my sisters have about 20 pairs of high heels (each) that she never wears. It makes them more attrative.

Because it's a beauty enhancement in a shoe.
Designed to tense the calf and thigh muscle making the female leg look firmer, longer and more shapely. And not so short and dumpy. The high heel shoe also tightens the buttock muscles giving them more shape and causing them stick out, thus making the female body look more appealing.
When young girls begin to mature into women their legs from hip to toe grow longer. Which means the female body is becoming ready to reproduce. Men know this instinctively. That is why men find the long slender effect the high heel shoe gives to women attractive.
E.G. ready to reproduce (have sex).
A female friend of mine wears them everywhere, even on the beach.

I don't know who was the first to make them but men where the first. I am a animal science major and in one of my classes Live stock judging I found out that back a long time ago cattle farmers found that when there cattle where stepping on things in the field the leg muscle would stretch making them look as if they where slim and fit. So they try-ed to make there cattle look this way all the time and in that time they asked the question if it makes my cattle look good then why can't are wife's look good that is where the high heel came from. As for the cattle you will find that it did not stick around for long there legs and hips could not handle the stress and lameness would set in go figure .

I don't wear high heels to "appeal to men," but I am petite and don't particularily like to be towered over. Some high heels are deathly painful, but they're not all like that- some are perfectly comfortable. It's just a matter of your personal comfort level, and depends on whether the shoe has been broken in and is designed properly. Some flat heels are as painful if not more painful than my more comfortable heels- the sad thing is, you can't always tell how comfortable a shoe is going to be in the shoe store. I've gotten horrible blisters from badly designed tennis shoes, so there ya go. I don't think it's possible to give any one answer to a question and have it be universally applicable. High heels are NOT just about sex, they are not just about patriarchal oppression- and suggesting that they are is insulting to women who choose to wear them, especially independent, feminist, and PETITE women like myself who find themselves in situations where a little height adds confidence and authority. If you don't like them, don't wear them. And please don't make me wear uncomfortable loafers that don't suit my sense of style! ;)
And in response to the former poster- I CAN flat out run in my heels (as they are not ridiculous platforms etc), and a spiky heel CAN be ground into a potential assailant's foot. I've also taken self defense classes, and any woman should be able to defend herself no matter what she is or is not wearing on her feet.

Obviously a man invented them. They are supposed to make the legs look better....well, they DO, but at what price? It sure isn't worth the pain and suffering women have to deal with. I've seen women with huge bunions on their feet from wearing high heels for too many years. How attractive!!!!

they look sexy, heels greater than 4" especialy. To get used to wearing heels, start with lower heels say 2.5" or 3", after a while and a bit of practice and experience, you will enjoy higher heels and appreciate the great things these shoes can do for you.

You don't know why women wear high heels? Simple. Its all about sex. men love long legged women (but of course they can't be too tall, thats a challenge to the man's dick) I don't wear them unless they're comfortable and I know I won't be doing much walking. Also, you can't escape your attacker in high heels. Just a few things to think about.

It just shows women can go to any extent to look pretty !! If they can go in for implants, wearing heels is just a little pain. LOL
compared to that.
You won`t ever find a man wearing anything in which he is not comfortable!! women like it or not he doesn`t bother!!

to look taller and to make the legs more slender and graceful.
Graceful coz our feet hurt in them and we cant walk fast. Its the modern foot binding I guess. It really depends upon the women who chose to wear them. It has disadvantages though. Wearing high heels makes you become more prone to varicose veins...Yuck. Have u ever seen a man complaining with varicose?

It's just a style. I like the way I feel in them but maybe it's not for you. They don't make me suffer, but I don't wear them every day.
