AGAINST.............if God had wanted same sex marriages he would have made Adam & Steve instead of Adam & Eve

Most definitely against...

Marriage is a joining in holy matrimony between a man and a woman under the eyes of god - a holy and therefore religious ceremony joining two people of different genders together.

Since it was decided some time ago that here in the United States, there would be a separation of church and state, then a legal ceremony can not be sanctified by the church in the same way that the church cannot be allowed into schools, etc.

You cannot have it both ways...

Marriage stays holy and therefore remains as the lord god intended, or schools get to reintroduce religious education...which way do you think it should be?

Many proponents of same-sex marriage use the term "equal marriage", however, the term "equal marriage" has long been used by feminists to describe any marriage, regardless of the sex of the partners, in which the partners have equal status within the marriage. Some argue that the correct term is simply "marriage" since that is how opposite-sex marriage is presented. Opponents argue that equating same-sex and opposite-sex marriage changes the meaning of marriage and its traditions. Some opponents use the term "homosexual marriage", and surveys have suggested that the word "homosexual" is more stigmatizing than the word "gay". Some publications that oppose same-sex marriage put the word "marriage" in quotes when referring to it. Notable publications that practice this are The Washington Times and LifeSite. Cliff Kincaid, a writer for the conservative-based media watchdog group Accuracy in Media, agrees with this method arguing that "marriage" is a word that same-sex couples merely want to apply to themselves, but have no legal ability to do so in most states. Gay rights supporters argue that it is editorializing and implying inferiority, and point out that it is used when referring to same-sex marriages in countries where it is legal.

Some have suggested abolishing the word "marriage" (or reserving it to a religious context) and referring to the civil and legal aspects of all marriages as civil unions. Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, for instance, wrote in a 2003 editorial in the Los Angeles Times that such an arrangement would "strengthen the wall of separation between church and state by placing a sacred institution entirely in the hands of the church while placing a secular institution under state control". Conservative critics like National Review's Jennifer Morse contend that the conflation of marriage with contractual agreements is itself a threat to marriage that "has undermined more heterosexual marriages than anything, with the possible exception of adultery".

The terms "gay marriage", "straight marriage", and all others implying sexual orientation, although popular with the media, are viewed by some as inaccurate. They claim that sexual orientation has rarely been a legal or religious qualification for marriage (a gay man could still marry a woman). Rather, the relevant qualification is the characteristic sexes of the parties to the marriage.

But then again, when a child gets adopted, its hard for the child.

So I am agenst same sex marriage.

Against - the only reason they want to get married is because they can't. If they were really "in love" then this obstacle could only strengthen this "love" and they wouldn't have to marry. Unless they are being selfish and want all of the financial benefits that married couples have. If not, then why not just live together and continue a "loving" relationship without causing so much trouble?

Ive said it once and I wont mind saying it again...who are we to be judgemental?
Live and let live...thats my policy.
I dont think anyone has the right to stand against two people who want to be together...
Gender, caste, colour, nationality notwithstanding.
Im married to the man I love and God knows that I cant imagine a life without him...
then how can I think in favour of separation of those who love each other or want to be with each other.
N by the way...nobody's perfect.
you n I have our own faults.
Imagine if someone would object to you driving because of your gender or colour or sexuality or a certain position you like in bed
I would hate that.
N so would you.
Its time we explored the more humane side in us.
Concentrate on other more important issues rather than run after people with different sexual preferances.

I completely support gay marriages. In a country like India where there is no option for people, gay people eventually get married to the opposite sex because somewhere in their lives they feel the need of a soulmate or a partner to take care of their emotional needs.

So, if gay marriages are not allowed, gay people get married to the opposite sex. They try to either cope up with it or satisfy themselves with a relationship outside their marriage. The other partner is cheated because the gay person is not able to satisfy his/her sexual needs. This marriage is as worthless as it can get. So gay people should be given an option to marry out of their choice. This way, nobody's life is spoilt.

Love is love, no matter who you are, and who you're with. Marriage should be legal to anyone who wants to enter that union. By the way, if it were up to me, then people as ignorant and hateful as you, would not be allowed to vote. Someone with your lack of brain power would not know what to do with the privilege.

I think it should be the couples choice. Can you control who you fall in love with?? I know I wasn't looking for love when I met my Now Husband. It is just something that happens. Do you wake up every morning and think to yourself "I am going to be straight today"?? No you don't. People with same sex relationships probably didn't think about it either. Do you question your wanting to be with a Woman? Is it natural for you? Wanting to be with someone of the same sex is natural for "gays and Lesbians". For you to say other wise is crap. How do you know what they feel or think?? The hell with you people who think that just because some one is gay they can't be married to the love of their life. I guess it is a good thing that it isn't up to you, you A$$ Hole

Well Mr. Matty B. I suppose you feel that a white and black person can not marry each other either. That was looked at as wrong to. You really need to check yourself because not all gay people are bad they are every where. They fight and die for our country just like straight people they pay taxes just like you and I well if people want to treat them like that then ma by they should not have to pay taxes either. You really need to soften your heart a little. I think all people should be treated equal. You are very mean and I hope someday your views will change!

I am against Gay Marriage but they still have rights as humans though. Gay marriage though is an abonimation to God. As it states in the Bible a man and a man shouldn't lay together nor a woman and woman. Marriage is sanctified by God.

I wouldn't oppose anyone from doing what brought them peace, and love, and happiness.

I responded to the question, but I wouldn't talk with someone that ignorantly used the word fag to dehuman others.
