Well, you can't deny he has a point - look at Liverpool, whose spending plans are now stuffed for next season cause Cisse's broken his leg and Marseille will no longer want him....

He's looking out for the player and the club's best interests if Rooney isn't 100% and goes off to the World Cup and causes himself more damage then he won't be any good to either club or country. Wayne is only young and doesn't want to be stuffing up his career at this stage considering how well he's performing. Ferguson is obviously erring on the side of caution and he's right to.

I don't think he wants to spoil England's chances. He is right to keep Rooney out of the World Cup because if he has not fully recovered from his injury and England rushes to play him, his injury might just get worse. This is bad not only for the future of Man Utd, but also for England.

He realizes that If Rooney was to get seriously injured during the world cup, United would probably end up getting relegated in the premiership and so he is just acting as if he wants to protect Rooney even though really he is more concerned about where his team finishes next season.

Protecting him for Man U. If England loses the world cup, everyone will kind of blame Rooney. Too many hopes are pinned on him.

Sir Alex's attitude and action pertaining to Wayne Rooney's injury has been exemplary and continues to be - that can only be respected not scorned nor be suspicious about. He has every right to fume, to be concerned about the wellbeing of Man United's most prized asset - it's his job. I feel the man is above trivialties seeing things in the longterm and for the good of the club and the boy.

Both really, but mainly he would like to keep him out to make sure he is fresh and uninjured for United at the start of the season.
Dwight Yorke (Trinidad & Tobago) has been training with United ahead of the world cup, and Ferguson has told him to go do England

He's always been a bitter jock, but i believe that he wants to protect man u's investment and anything that goes against england is fine by him.
