It is more often dishonest to ourself then honest. Though we relize this post facto only. Though they say human being are more selfish then others however it is really opposite, we human beings bother more about others then our self. We always keep thinking how others will think, what they will be say for this particular action. So instead of being honest to ourselves we became more honest to others. Till the time two do not conflicts we do not feel much however when it conflicts and when we see that this attitude hurts us and our near & dears it hurts a lot and then you resolve to be honest with you all the time just to break that next moment.

Reality is really subjective --- we all perceive information differently, so we don't see or hear the exact same things as other people and then we filter and interpret the information based on our life experience --- so your truth is not necessarily the same as my truth. However, when someone does something bad, they may experience cognitive dissonance --- meaning their actions do not correspond to the way that they see themselves for example, I think I am a good person but I was mean to her ---I have to either decide that I am really not a good person --- which is really painful or decide
that she was a nasty person and deserved my meaness. If I decide the latter, I am more likely to be more mean to her in the future even though I might have just been mean to begin with because I was in a bad mood. Am I being honest with myself? It is really complicated.
