When Australia made 434, a world record and South Africa chased it succesfully and made 438 another world record, it means a world record did not exist even for a single day.

It has happened this year only, when South Africa beat Australia in the final match in Australia. Australia batted first to score 434 in the allotted 50 overs, which became the highest ever total in an ODI. Soth Africa batting second had no chance to reach the mammoth total. However, records were made by scoring 438 runs in the second innings and a six to make the score to 438. It was superb batting by both the sides. But SA were the best. I am sure that this record will not be broken in the near future.

Out of the 3 choices you've given us.

The tied semi final in 1999.

This was a big occasion match unlike the hideous high scoring game in Sth Africa recently.

The Miandad 6 certainly had the suspense but although it was an important game it wasn't the World Cup.

The stage was never bigger than 1999 in England and this was essentially the final as Pakistan were so ordinary in the actual final.

The game had alot of twists and turns and Shane Warne and Steve Waugh shone through for the Aussies before the remarkable last over.

I think the one in which Australia Created a world record of scoring highest runs and in the second inns SAfrica Chased dem down well and defested them. That was the most entertaining one.
