We generally find it easier to express our views and personal things in front of our friends rather than discussing it with a family member why?

It might be because we don't feel as much of an emotional attachment to them as we do our family and hence, the fear of rejection or judgment might not be as great.
Another way of looking at it would be that if we are closer to our friends, then we feel safer expressing our feelings and views with them. There is the sense of equality with our peers and if we established a sense of trust and respect in our relationship with them, it is easier for us to show our true selves.
