if you think that 'all mexicans are rude', then obviously you are a racist.
anybody that thinks 'all [name of race] are [undesirable quality]' is racist. this is what the term racist means.
but then of course you are racist: you are an american.
and all americans are racist.

The Mexicans that you are exposed to do not represent all of the Mexicans in America. Imagine how hard it is for the older immigrants who support the "rude" younger ones. A law was just passed in the US that you have to be speak English to immigrate here. That means that Grandparents have to stay in Mexico. The Mexican work ethic helps run this country. I know you may have more Mexicans where you live, than here, but I have many Mexican friends, and know many wonderful Mexicans and Hispanics.Any kind of "Go back to your country" remarks/thinking is undeniably racist. It refers indiscriminately to an entire group of people without acknowledging the other side of the coin.

I don't think you you are a racist just confused by the lack of real figures and the need to stay with the herd.
The figures about Southern California ethnic population are, 64.8 percent white, 1.7 percent African-American, .7 percent American Indian, 13.6 percent Asian, and 30.8 percent Latino. Of those residents, 29.9 percent were foreign born while 41.49 percent spoke a language other than English at home.
The definition of racism is The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others and Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
The media is trying to stir up feelings of racism (they would class it as National Pride) that is being used to cover up the bigger picture about the condition that America has slowly been slipping into, and because the press in America is not purely free you are being given a distorted view to base your opinions on. If you are happy to believe the facts you have been given about your world and then look for the evidence to back up those figures without considering that the information might be wrong, then that will make you a racist.

I think Andy Rooney says it quite nicley!
I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United ***** College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.
I think that if you feel the illegals shouldn't be here, that isn't being a racist, it is having an opinion. After all doesn't "illegal" mean they don't have the right to be here?
I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.
I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!
I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry butt if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines. I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.
I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else
And if you don't like my point of view, tough...
86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having "In God We Trust" on our money and having "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to Shut Up and BE QUIET!!!

It depends on what you define as "race." Many hispanics are considered white. I don't think you are racist, but it definately sounds as if you are xenophobic (fear of other cultures). Sometimes it's hard to draw the line between the two, but I usually think of racism as explicitly based on a person's race (white, black, asian, etc.). As far as the men staring at you, you are probably an attractive girl and it is probably more accepted for them in their culture to stare at you like that. You have every right in the world to give them a dirty look back if they do that to you. You also have to remember that not all Mexicans are illegal immigrants. The vast majority of immigrants to the US are non-violent, law abiding people who are just trying to look for a better life for themselves and their families. There is a great demand for their labor, and unless the US changes its foreign policy toward Mexico to put pressure on the Mexican president. The US also needs to enforce existing laws on businesses that hire illegal aliens. Hope this helped out some for ya.

Your opinions of illegal immigration and your opinion on being a respectful american or a respectful person in gereral...are not racist. As for you, yeah, you are racist. Everybody is. Science has proved it. But there's a differance in being racist and being ignorant.
But like you said, you believe 90% should go back to Mexico, which means you're totally cool with the remaining 10%. Which also means you don't like certain types of Mexicans and not all Mexicans in general. (not racist). But you also said you'd never date one (racist, but not in a bad way, just your own opinion)

No your not a racist. The important thing is that you don't think that your better than them. Yes, thats how some of them are. But you have to understand their culture and what they go through. I don't know about then going back.... the illegal ones yes. But I just think that some Mexicans have to learn that not everybody are out to get them.

although you have mexican friends...it seems you harbour a lot of hostility towards the nation as a whole...i'd say you are definitely discriminating, and you are tending towards a racist attitude,
remember, everyone has eyes, if they look at you then they look, thats life, deal with it,
with the people that are rude to you, don't waste your time with them, but don't take it out on all mexicans, thats just too broad a sentiment

You're not racist if you have friends that are of the race in question, you are simply not very tolerable of these people (I'm not saying one way or the other that you should or shouldn't be). Everyone is like that, at least a little, and those who say they aren't, probably are moreso than most.

first of all, not "all the mexicans" are in so. cal.
you are not entirely racist, in that you don't attribute any characteristic to the entire race of people, but you are partially by ruling out dating anyone of that ethnicity based on their race.
you're entitled to dislike being leered at...but I'm sure that it's not only one race who does that to you, is it? you're entitled to resent people sponging off the system, but you must acknowledge that other races do as well, and that there are also Mexicans who bust their asses working two and three jobs, who are proud to be American, who contribute, etc.
