What would you do if you knew someone who may be suicidal. You know this person has cut themselves before, and may do it again. Would you call someone? Tell a counselor? And what if you did, and they checked that person out, that person will then know that you told on them. Or if you dont tell, they could commite suicide. And if you do tell, 1 out of 3 things could happen. 1.They could be checked out, and founded that there is nothing too wrong with them, then they can hate you for telling. 2.They can be checked out, and then checked into counsling or a mental physility, but they could not really get bettter, and not realize that you did it to help, so they hate you. (or they could get help, but still not thank you)or 3. which is the only good occurence, they can get checked into counsling or a physility, get help, get better, and realize that you were trying to help them and thank you. So only one good thing could come out of this. Well for both of you. So what would you do?

But in the end, would it really matter if they were still your friend, or liked you? As long as they got help, and are better. But still what would you do?

If I was you I would report this to a parent or counselor and try to get this person help. It will help them out better if you do this. If they get mad at you they will get over it when they relize you were trying to help. A good friend always helps another friend in need.

Well, you have to decide what is more important- their life or your friendship.

For me, I wouldn't think twice about reporting them, even if it meant losing a friend. Because there's a pretty high probability that if I didn't report the behavior I would lose them anyways, through their own self-destructive behaviour.

If it was a minor, I would contact a school counsellor AND their parents. If it was an adult, I would contact social services and/or the non-emergency police line for more information.

Well.... Such situations are always hopeless... But one needs professional help in such situations, especially if they have made attempts to commit suicide earlier, because in such a situation, the patient is almost always not in the right frame of mind, and however much you try, if you care for him/her, you must ask them to seek help, or do so yourself to help them, so that it leads to betterment..

But you should be sure that there is really something wrong happening in his/her life.. And if he/she has already tried commiting suicide, then you can be assured that you must do something to help them.. But mostly, things take care of themselves, because if the person concerned really tries to commit suicide and lands in the hospital/dispensary..
Then it becomes a police case.. And the doctors most likely will not interfere in the case.. So the patient is almost always treated..

IE, it is in the best interest of both of the two that help is seeked for in such cases..

yes, if you know someone who is suicidal, tell someone, be a friend and do the right thing, hopefully she/he would understand, but probably not in the begining, if later he/she is getting help and has recoverd im sure he or she will thank you
