I have an 8 month old son, since the day he was born, I simply love the way he smells. Beats whatever perfume my wife has. Now I look like an idiot for smelling him all the time, whether he took a bath or not.

There is a biological reason that babies smell good. It is to encourage parents to bond and to want to take care of them!

Babies who are exclusively breastfed smell the best (their skin isn't eliminating toxins from all the foreign proteins), by the way...

I don't know why they smell so good. My guess because their sweat glands haven't fully developed, so it's impossible for them to smell "bad"! While I use unscented everything for my boys, I do still love the smell of Johnson & Johnson baby lotion. However, my boys smell just...well...good! Clean and sweet. I could walk around all day just smelling the tops of their heads and kissing and kissing their little cheeks!

What makes adult smell bad is the sweat, the smell of the sweat of each individual gets affected by what they eat. It is the same with the poop and urine, for ex: to much salt in you diet will make your pee stink. Babies that are breast feeding have a natural delicious smell that comes from what they eat, also if you notice their poop doesn't smell bad. ones they start solids that smell start to change the urine has a smell and the poop gets yucky.

Babys have that new smell because they have not been polluted with the worlds ugly odor. Actually, I rub baby lotion on my baby after every bath. Maybe your wife does this?

I really don't know. I feel the same way. I know they are clean, the clothes smell good and the shampoo/soap also smells good but it is something about them. I felt the same way about mine.
