at last the iguana was caught, the happiest person in the house is my father, but then some of the fire men came up to my fater and kind of asked him to sell to them rather than killing it, they said the iguana can be eaten i am not sure if its an iguana but in my launguage its called the 4 legged snake, it was 5'7..not incliding its tail, can this thing really be eaten? isnt it poisonous?

I tried to do some research on the web to give You an answer, but I didn't find anything about eating an Iguana. I did find several sites where they are sold. My Friend said that she had heard that possibly the tail is eaten. Although it is scaly, it should have a soft underside. I wouldn't want to try it, but I'm not starving either, not to say that they are, perhaps they consider it a delicacy. Or maybe they just wanted to sale it. You never said where You live. You spoke of Your house being a bungalow. And the fact that the Fire Department is handling animal calls. That just sounds a lot different from where I live. I don't think it is poisonous, but it can give or cause Salmonella, like undercooked chicken. Glad Your safe, and that Your uninvited guest is gone.
Say hello when You get a chance, and Take Care.
