They are still around. They go dormant when it gets cold.

In California they never go away. Same with Texas and Florida.

Areas with actual snowfall will have no flies.

That is why it is called "the most wonderful time of the year" and they sing about it!

that's not true. There can be flies in winter... just depends on how cold it has gotten. The biggest telltale is, are there mosquito's in the winter? Flies eat trash/garbage anything that is foodworthy and nutritious in their larval stage (maggots). It would just depend on food supply and temperature as to whether you see flies in winter time or not. hope this helps, but not sure why you even asked.

because the maggots cannot survive the cold tempratures - the flies go into a hibernation state and when spring returns the flies wake up and start reproducing like mad throughout the warm seasons

Because they assume the sound of the rain shower as if it is the sound of pest-sides. Thus, they keep shutting their homes inside and remain terrified till their well trained surveillance solders confirm the situation is passed indeed.

because in winter they can not survive.the chilly cold for instance the fridge you keep even an ant does not enter in it.
