I assume you mean "Carl" Lewis? Yes. in 1996, but he was NEVER world champ in the 200 meters. He won a Bronze medal in '93.

Bru, by 2000, Carl Lewis was 39 years old. By '96 he was already showing his age and his body was starting to break down. I don't think he would have won the LJ in those games as Ivan Pedroso's mark of 8.55 was better than Lewis's jump in Altanta's '96 Olympic games.

In fact, Lewis's last jump of over 28' was in '94, so by 2000, he was well past his prime.

Yes he did. Its interesting that if Carl Lewis would have come back to compete at the long jump at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He would have I think anyway bested the distance posted by the Cuban who won the event at 8.55 metres. It would have been a training jump at best for Carl.
