It only matters what you think. Wal-Mart is successful for many reasons, but mainly for providing value where others have not. Everyplace has good things and bad about it. You vote by where you spend your hard earned money. Personnally, I shop at Wal-Mart, but I make sure they earn my money with some service and quality!

I hate Wal-Mart. Mainly because of the people. The people are always so scary looking... like they came out of a musty cellar, braved the light of day, and went out in search of food, and giant toilet paper rolls, and chairs that fall apart too easily. At the Wal-Mart near where I live, the people are always clueless about appropriate social considerations when they go. And I'm not only talking about hygiene but just respecting my personal space, and not stopping in the middle of the main aisle with your kids screaming in your cart that's blocking my way.
Ohhh... you got me started with this question.
And the aisles! Who's ever heard of an aisle that's only 4 feet across. That's barely big enough for two shopping carts, let alone any shoppers or one of the thousands of displays that clutter the store... or even an idiot employee who's standing there trying to figure out how to restock shelves. One time I helped a girl figure out where to restock just because I was getting frustrated watching her search the shelves in the place where I needed to be. But what do they care? They are only making 5.15 an hour.
And then there's the whole issue with the kids. If I need to get something at let's say ten oclock at night, why am I running into 15 little kids screaming as they're being dragged around by their parents. And you know why they're screaming? It's not because like me they hate being at Wal-Mart, it's because no kid should be awake after a certain point... but that's not a beef with Wal-Mart, just Wal-Mart customers. So for this issue I would like to announce my grand idea to Wal-Mart: essentially an adult swim for the entire store... no kids allowed for just an hour or so a day and I would be ten times happier shopping there.
But all in all, I do still shop there. Some things are just a whole lot cheaper there. Like cereal.

A very powerful company and a convenient place to shop. Great prices. Awesome choice of products. The economic side of wal-mart is disastrous. They completely kill the small shops. When they move in to town 10-15 or more mom and pop shops have to close. Their great for consumers but lethal to small retail business.

I believe that Wal-Mart has been a very successful business but lately has been performing a lot of bad business practices and from what i hear working there is not all that great.

I don't go to Wal-Mart to feel sorry for the employees. I go there to find great bargains on stuff that sells elsewhere for much more.
