I seriously doubt that any of the users of Answers are sending you any Active-X!

But you should never download any Active-X Controls that are unsigned. You can set your Active-X preferences by going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > Custom Level > scroll down to Active-X controls and plug-ins > Then set your preferences > click OK. A fairly safe method is to set "Download Signed Active-X controls" to Prompt and set "Download Unsigned Active-X Controls" to disable.

Unsigned Active-X downloads are often used to install spyware and adware on a computer and should be avoided.

I usually put the name into the search engine to see what they are all about. That usually gives me enough info to make an informed decision.
