I am a white male in my late 20's, and live in Flint Michigan, the only city to always beat NY city on crime rates. Gowing up the N word or any racial term was welcomed in my family's house, I was never brought up to be racist.
My question is, even though I identified myself with other whites (who werent racist) and never really hung out in all black areas, why is it that the few times I have been in black areas, or been around black males, I was a million times more likely to be victimized. I dont even frequent places where black people are predominant, but if I happen to be at a club or a black neighborhood, why is it that I am always the one that is singled out and robbed? Well, if you ask me, it's obviosly because I'm white, and seem to be an easy target, due to the racism.
I have never been the victim of a crime at the hand of a white, mexican, arab, or asian, but have been carjacked 2x, robbed 4x, held at gunpoint 2x, and heard racial slurs a milion times, only by balcks.

Hi. I am a African American Women, it is not that black people don't like white people or well most people that I know, but some of the black people feel that they should be getting anything they want because of history, what I am trying to say is they are spoiled and if don't nobody give them what they want, they are going to take it and something some of my people don't realize, that in all reality we all have to work hard to get what we want.Just some advice I hope it helped a little or just give you some understanding on what goes on in the world of today.

Sorry to ignore youre "black people only" sign but heres my opinion-

You say the N word or any racial term /was/ welcomed in your familys house, yet you were never brought up to be racist. I think youre contradicting yourself a bit there as the N word is highly offensive and is definetly considered racist.

Since you were able to overlook this, perhaps you do tend to say some racist things without actually realising that it is offensive as you were brought up with the idea that its ok to say this sort of thing.

Maybe you should just be extra careful about the things you say and remember that everyone deserves respect. Then you might not find yourself in so much trouble.

As for asking "black people only" why youve been robbed so many times by other people of their race, thats just stupid. Its entirely up to the individual whether they are going to rob you or not. For example, you couldnt tell a person from another race why they were mugged by a white person, could you?

You being robbed and victimized for the simple fact that you even posted a question like this. See, black people can sniff out people who in some way have prejudged their race. If you were victimized by white people all the time you wouldn't have posted this question you would have just blamed it on crime. YOU ARE A RACIST. You might don't believe that we are not equal but you still believe that we are different...in the degree as being humanly untammed. You see if you didnt think that way then this question wouldnt have even entered your thought pattern. What you went through aint nothing. Our ancestors had to endore much worst and still to this day we have to work harder and accomplish more just to be considered as equal in something we helped built. And that's what you live in buddy (America). Ignorance doesn't have a race. You should know. and the people that you were robbed by were just that ignorant and dumb. And I'm sorry you had to go through that. But don't look at the whole race. Because your people out here doing the same.

Ahhh man you just visited the hood! You can't even begin to imagine how life in the hood is everyday for black people. For every instance of black on white crime there are probably 100 black on black crimes. The reason your victimized in these areas is you have no friends in these areas. A thief will take the path of least resistance every time if he's smart. Your white bread asss walking around, driving around, not being careful, is an obvious target. Hey I live in a border state. My wife's car gets stolen like they own it. I've been robbed at gun point several times. I've been shot at. And its not blacks its Mexicans. Do I say hay Mexicans why are you racist against me that you have to treat me so badly. No! The idea just sounds absurd. Its the lifestyle of a minority within a minority that affects us all. Gangsters and thieves are in every race of man so don't kid yourself because you live there.

I am a black woman that believes in speaking the truth. The reason that you are singled out is because you are white. White men are considered weaker and not as street saavy as the black man. I do not think that it is right. Yet, it is okay for you to frequent places that blacks are. Just certain types of black people. You can be the victim of crime from other races too.I would never frequent a redneck bar either. My chances of getting hurt in some way is twice as likely as a white woman going to the same place.

I guess black people have more reason to victimize you than asians or hispanics. Yea slavery, segregation, etc was in the past but the every day experiences that black people go through fill them with a resentment for whites. There is institutional racism/discrimination that goes on daily and is a heavy weight on black people, so they take out their resentment and anger on the race that oppresses them, white people. Even though it is not you specifically that is trying to harm blacks and you are usually an innocent person that is victimized by blacks more often than not, their anger is misdirected towards you specifically but it is meant as a payback type thing towards all whites. And even though you grew up in a white family where it was ok to say the N word, that is wrong and disrespectful so please don't use it, it is not for you or your family to decide that it's ok to welcome that word in your house, there is a history behind it that should not be taken lightly.

1- because you live in Flint

You are from the average white household that most Black people have never experienced. You represent what many Black Americans my never have, and that makes you a target. You ask why not any other minority. I don't know except the tensions have always been most high between our ethnicity's.

I don't excuse what people from my ethnicity have done to you. It is wrong and racist. But you are experiencing the same type of racism that educated, upper class Black Americans (Black Americans in general really) receive from both poorer White Americans, the government and society in general (especially the police) for years, centuries even. It's unprovoked racism and it's wrong.

If you are going to hang around in the black neighborhood then you need to be with
someone that is black that knows the people that you are hanging out with. Blacks
have tendency to easily become afraid of whites when invasion have hit their
terrioty and you are not known. So therfore if you are with a black brother you can
bet he will protect you and your fears will be gone. Then when you show up around
them you are not going to have any problems. Last but least hang out with people you
know, cause color don't matter these days. Perhaps you look like an easy prey to them. Hit me back and let me know what you think.

Sorry to hear about what you went through. Unfortunately we live in a racial society. You should move. Way too much crime where you are at.
