So where do people get nine months from? this has always confused me and it seems like a lot of females I know have the same question. So which is it 9 or 10 months?

4.33 (9)=38.97, still not 40 weeks. Is it a scam? Why don't they count the first month, I was sick then so I think it should count.

Full term pregnancy = 40weeks
In a year, u have 52 weeks
So, a full term pregnancy = 40/52 years
= 0.769 years
Now, multiply that by 12 = 9.23 months.

The month is traditionally known as 4 weeks, and when we work by the monthly cycle of 4 weeks then there are 36 weeks to a nin month cycle and 40 weeks to a 10

The pregnancy cycle from one month gives us 36 weeks at 9 months pregnant (the heart begins to beat at one month=4 weeks after being conceived)

If you go to the calendar you will notice that there are certain months that are of five weeks instead of four., such as the month of June.. It is like if you were working and getting paid twice a week, you would get paid three times on this month instead of twice. So, if you start counting for nine months, you will notice that in those nine months, there are months of five weeks, that is where the extra weeks are counted making it believe that the 40 weeks are 10 months when in reality you just looked at nine months. I hope this made sense., I know it is complicated...

There are 4.33 weeks average per month. Four weeks =28 days. Except for April, all months have more than 28 days. So, it is not 10 months, it is 9, but will vary by the person. The doctors estimate averages for humans. Be well.

There is actually 4.33333, not 4 weeks in each month. (52/12), because most months have more than 28 days. So all those extra days over 28 will shorten the time to approximately 9 months.

They actually count from your last menstrual cycle before you got pregnant--if you pay attention when you go to the dr, that's the date they always ask you for before they get out their little calcluator. So, by the time you actually get pregnant, you're a couple of weeks into the cycle... get it? That's where those extra weeks come from. It's because the gestation is calculated from your menstrual cycle, not from the date of conception.

The 40 weeks is from the start of your last menstrual period, so you're not really pregnant for the first 2 of them (until you ovulate and fertilization occurs). So it's really 38 weeks.

I guess it is because doctors start counting your pregnancy as from the first date of your last menstruation, and not as on the day you had conceived.

it could be but because someon is preggers for like 39 weeks and a few days like if you have the baby on wednesday they count it as a week
