Actually; many astronomers and cosmologists think that the math does point to a "torus" shaped universe.

As far as the sprinkles- I cant say!

It's uncertain whether the Universe is toroidal, but, in any case, it's a safe bet it doesn't have sprinkles on it, because of Occam's razor: When you make a scientific hypothesis, you try to make it as simple as possible.

If the universe is like a mathematical torus, surely the wrinkles would be special... you would perceive them from two sides...the inside and the outside of the donut-.
