I believe that we meet same people that we dealt with in our past lives.May be that is the reason we meet certain people and do certain things that reflect our past acqaintances. I am not very clear on how my past lives affect my present life. Please explain.

Definietely, the reason we're here is that we still have desires to fullfill, mend the injustice we did to others, collect the rewards we were entitled for our good actions. This can go onand onfor millions of lives!Mainly for the stubborn ones who do not seek, inthis human form, how to get rid of this cycle. In animal form, unfortunately,we'll be unable to seek for enlightenment...SO.rush to the library now and buy the Bhagavad Gita as itis by Srila Prabhupada! It will change your life for ever!

It's an interesting idea, but if we only meet the same people all over again, it would seem like we are not really moving onto anything new, just recycling the past. Seems somehow fruitless, so I prefer the idea that we have new experiences with new people. The idea that we have lived before does give people a sense of continuity and of transcendence of death, yet I'm not sure we are really the same persons we were in previous existences, as for the most part people don't recall past lives. I think identity depends a very great deal on memory to retain continuity. So even if I did have a previous life, I think that I am actually a different person.

Spiritually, human life starts out as the echo from the joining of two souls as their physical vessels engage in intercourse. That echo, a tiny fragment of its parents, can become a soul. But sometimes, that echo is the same as another one that has happened before somewhere...sometime before on the mortal coil. Sometimes the joining of souls is the channel for unfulfilled dreamers to step out of the endless slumber back into our world. Because you feel you have past lives, your soul must be attempting to see its dreams come true. Your mortal mind won't remember this. Nor does a soul have earthly ambitions like being the world's greatest blacksmith or having the best collection of autographed baseball cards. A soul merely seeks a state of being. Search yourself, think hard, meditate somewhere serene - there is a desire deep within your psyche at the junction where your soul is joined to your body. Stare into it: There is an image of a dream trapped inside. Are you laughing in it? Do you feel something? Perhaps you feel powerful, as though you are in a position of authority. Maybe you feel wild and free - someone who was meant to explore and feel the wind on their face? It is too personal and too vast for anyone to guess at. Only you can know. Find your dream and live life in a way that makes you feel like you did in that dream.

I don’t believe in this past-lives things, but I must admit it makes sense.
How does it affect your present life? I think everybody has certain anxieties, but he/she also knows that those should be overcome, right? For example, I’m rather shy and eveytime I don’t dare do something that others can do easily, I have this bad feeling.
There was a romantic comedy about afterlife (I think Meryl Streep starred it) where people were judged according to how brave they were, no matter they were good. I can’t get that movie out of my mind and feel guilty when I fail to do something. Perhaps this is a simple “I failed and I’m a loser” disease, but perhaps this is what reincarnation is about.

No!
At least as we conceive time! Well, time is a human invention and that is why some times time is not very clear or even "correct"!
Also, since there is no proof of multiple living, why should we worry about previous and next, or even parallel living and lives?
What could be real is that ourselves, every cell of us, have memory! That is why Homer wrote that it is the obligation of the parents to develop children better than them!

Yes, for those who believe in re-incarnation, it is the law of karma.
You and only you create the consequences of your own existence( in this life, in past lives and in lives yet to come). Positive acts, deeds, thoughts etc. create positive Karma, likewise, negative deeds, acts and thoughts create Negative karma (you reap what you sow, what goes around comes around etc.-in other words; FREE WILL). What lessons you do not learn in this life, you will come back until you learn them and until you burn off all negative Karma, yet you also enjoy the fruits of your positive Karma. This is how the cycle of re-incarnation ceases, when all Negative Karma is burned up, when all lessons are learned...(there are even states of existences in hell-like realms-but not eternal, for all souls eventually return to their natural states of enlightenment-Nirvana (or heaven). So yes, you do encounter "old souls" in your present lifetime and in future ones as well. For example; You, in your past lifetime hated your father, and likewise, there was no love lost for you in his heart. You both eventually die, without resolving these negative feelings for each other, thus in one of your future lifetimes, when both of your souls are ready, you may come back into the same lifetime, start out as enemies yet turn out to eventually be best friends, thus a healing has taken place between two souls, you have both learned a new lesson in love and compassion, there is a closure to that negativity which had once been unresolved.

Yes we do complete the things we did not do in our pasts. Its always that we learn all this from our ancestors. Just to make us resalize our deeds we are told all this .But it fully depends on the beiliever.
