Cockroaches are flat, oval insects that vary in length as adults from 1 mm (0.04 in) to more than 9 cm (3.6 in). They may be winged or wingless, but even winged species do not always fly. The many species inhabit diverse but individually restricted habitats, including leaf litter, bromeliads, the splash zone of waterfalls, and bat caves. Cockroaches are non-specialized insects, primitive in the sense that the young resemble the adults. Primarily nocturnal, they are sensitive to light; their antennae and sensory bristles enable them to detect tiny amounts of food and moisture. The cerci, or sensory structures extending rearwards from the abdomen, are able to sense minute air movements; in this way, cockroaches can start to flee from potential danger within a twentieth of a second. An oily cuticle (outer skin) protects them from dehydration.

No, their bones are on the outside of their body. Its called an exoskeleton. That's why they shed their bodies every so often.

They have exoskeletons, which gives them much like a shell. (think like a turtles) And so they don't need bones inside their body.
