He had this a few weeks ago and it went away after a few days. It seems to get really red sometimes(not any specific time) and then gets lighter. I don't think it itches him. It feels and looks a little scaly but I don't know. He has an appt coming up and I will tell Dr. I was just wondering what ideas you had

Could be ezcema or a skin allergy. Use Eucerin lotion it is safe and will heal and protect skin. You can give him a little benedryl. Limit his exposure to sun, wind, getting hot, and cold air. Using Eucerin before he goes outside can help protect his face from the climits. Use cotton sheets and blankets. If the doctor says its ezcema ask him about Nizeral cream. Elidel doesn't work and is expensive and becareful with steriod creams because they thin the skin. Good Luck

I'm looking at my 5 month old son and he has something similar on his cheeks and forehead.

When my son was first born he had very sensitive skin. He had a lot of baby acne that made his face very red at times. Now the baby acne is gone, but we've found out that even if he's in the sun for 5 minutes without a hat or sunscreen his face can get really red.

So he could just have really sensitive skin like my son. We find that just making sure his face his clean and keeping him out of the sun works for us. However, I would definitely bring it up to your doctor.

It could be allergy...Is your child already taking solids? My daughter is 10 months now. She used to always get rashes all over. First they thought she had measles cause it came with fever after that no fever... only the rashes. Your child could also be lactose intollerant. Try Lactose free milk. Which I am currently giving my daughter. I also stopped giving her those flavoured cereals/biscuts. Give her plain cereal and add her lactose free milk to it, or I make her porridge myself. Avoid giving tomatoes, citrus food and seafood for the time. I give her brocolli, cauliflower, spinnich, carrot, potatoes, ... this is fine..

Your baby could also be having enzema.. it will eventually go away. My daughters is under control now except when I gave her tomatoes the other day.

take Care

It's probably eczema. My baby had this too, and it flared up most when he was teething and drooling a lot. The doctor prescribed a steroid cream that cleared it right up.

It could be pediatric psoriasis. I would have to look at it to be sure but you could try an oatmeal lotion on it, or possibly an antibiotic cream. Both have been seen to help on my daughter.

you need to use that moisturizer that they use on that commercial with the ladies hands are crododiles and when she puts it on it magically turns into human hands - maybe this moisturizer will magically remove your childs scaly cheeks into smooth baby cheeks.

maybe your baby has been exposed too much to the sun... maybe the doctor will recommend you a special baby sunblock to protect your child

any kind of food alergies, fruit is my first idea.

I'd say, -don't worry, give him different food items, wait a while and see if it affects his cheeks.
