A cell is the key to life but human RBCs do not have cells how do they function

RBCs as the name suggests 'red blood cells' are very much cells .In order to carry haemoglobin efficiently they don't have nucleus so as to have more space to pack haemoglobin.
So RBCs do not have cells is incorrect because they themselves are cells.

Red Blood Cells as everyone has pointed out are Cells. Since their only role is to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide around the body, once they have matured the nucleus breaks down. The nucleus has a couple of major roles in a cell: Contains genetic material, produces mRNA required to make proteins and it also regulates the celular processes. However mature RBC don't need any of these functions and so get rid of their nucleus to make way for more heamaglobin.

They have no complex functions so don't need a nucleus. Hope that answers your question.

The Red Blood Cells (RBCs) lack a nucleus. The lose it once they become mature. This means they are unable to reproduce, but still function to take on oxygen and deposit carbon dioxide. They live about 4 months before they die and are removed from the body.

RBCs are erathrocytes that carry heamoglobin and rh factor
moreover, these are responsible for oxygenation of blood.

they do not do any thing, they just carry nutrients and every thing else on them from one part to another and flow into blood like a non-living substance

they divide mitotically very fast and keep on dividing and dieing
