there is no one else in the town except himself and the bartender. The man asks the bartender for a drink of water. The bartender reaches below the bar, pulls out a revolver and fires at the man once, narrowly missing him. After being startled, the man laughs, and then says "thanks for the help" and walks out. Why did he thank the bartender?
(No, it isn't becasue the bartender didn't shoot him)

the guy had hiccups..he wanted the water to make them stop..but the bartender tried to scare him to get rid of them.
