a blue plastic egg, 6 twigs, any pink flower, the hair from a poodle, the number '4', taken off a house (return it later), a shovel, the cap from a lawnmower, and one item of black clothing taken off a clothes line...how's that? Do I get the 10 points???

That really depends on your neighbourhood. I'm thinking of a the type of scavenger hunt where you get a clue and then have to find the next clue, NOT the type of hunt where you collect a lot of things. In my area, I would have people look for

- a weeping willow
- monkey bars
- the sign for the street that translates to "Linda's House"
- a monkey puzzle tree
- a white picket fence

I did a picture scavenger hunt once and took pictures of distinct people...like the old lady with the horribly decorated shirt, bad fake bake, bad die job, is that a man or a woman, sweat pants in public, etc...it was a lot of fun.

Is this for adults or kids? For kids just do the usuall things. Find a brown leaf,a feather, a colored rock, etc. For adults go a bit tougher. Find a lighter, find an address and describe the house, get a local celeb's autograph, etc.

If you are going door to door ask for any possible but silly thing - a peanut butter sandwich, bandaid, a plastic bag, etc. Nothing that needs to be returned or is dangerous or expensive. i used to love these but be careful - if you live in a good neighborhod, have fun. but if there is any danger there then forget it. Go in groups of at least 4 people and don't accept any invitations to go inside. sorry, but's this is good advice these days.

go for random things...a red paperclip, a penny with a certain year, toothpicks, balloons, easter eggs...basically anything could work.
