In the Meaning of Life They handed out conversation starter cards. So for your party hand each guest a card with a subject on it and for the next 20 minutes or so you all converse on that subject, take it in turns and pretty soon your dinner party will be filled with conversation that has variety and most of all fun.

I guess it depends if your dinner party is formal or informal ....are the guests going to be family and friends or business associates?maybe some current event ...or celebrities / tv shows ..most everyone has an opinion abut them ....I like to get to know people so I always ask them about their musical likes , and their teenage years ...what was their fave artists /tv shows/pop culture things ...ie did you own a rubiks cube etc ....it always makes good convo when people reminiss about "Their Era "

Good Luck with your dinner party :-]

It depends on when you are talking. If you are meeting someone for the first time ask about their interests. People like talking about themselves. If it's during the meal food is a safe topic as long as you don't start talking about certain countries eating dogs. Trust me someone did that while I was eating recently.

Talk about overcoming something small. How you outwitted someone and it felt good. This is an opportunity to express yourself as someone cool/

people love to talk about them selves. all you have to do is ask questions about who ever your talking to and act interested, most important don't talk about yourself just listen, you'll be a hit.
