Stepping stones are quite easy to make, and really don't require the use of rhubarb leaves. :) (Though I had a good laugh, his description was fairly accurate!)
I've done this, and my method was to buy the little drip pans for under potted plants from a local home improvement store, buy quickcrete, and use a bunch of leftover colored glass (free from a local stained glass artiste), colored stones (from a defunct fish tank), broken plates, etc. I filled my molds with the quickcrete, and while it was setting, added my "bits" as designs, initials, etc. When it was dry (I let it cure for about 24 hours) I popped them out. Oh, and I greased my molds before using. They wash easily that way for re-use.

Happy Creating!
