Sell products that people actually want.
Selling on eBay is not as easy as some portray. In fact, go to eBay and check out the number of auctions that end without a single bid. Competition is getting tough, as more sellers go to eBay; even the big boys are joining in the eBay marketplace. Add to that the increasing listing and final value fees.
eBay has several ways for you to determine exactly what the hot items to sell on their marketplace:
Items In Demand = the most popular items currently within that particular category. To see the In Demand page, go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sellbycategory.html
Hot Items by Category Report = a monthly report that lists the fastest growing categories on eBay for the previous month. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/whatshot.html and select "Hot Items by Category" from the menu on the left.
eBay Pulse = "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff on eBay". Go to http://pulse.ebay.com/ to see eBay Pulse in action.
Merchandising Calendar = eBay promotes specific categories on its home page each month. Savvy eBayers know that this home page exposure results in more interest in such categories. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/calendar.html to view the current Merchandising Calendar.

This is probably the most asked question from new eBay sellers! You can buy a surplus or store pull pallet of merchandise and sell these items individually.
Here are a few websites to get you started:
http://www.liquidations.com/catalog/
http://www.domesticcloseouts.com/
http://www.dollardays.com/ddcilogin.asp?errmsg=Incorrect%20password
http://www.abcwholesaleproducts.com/
While you're surfing around the web, take a look at my website. I have some good eBay Tips and Tricks, with some sellers links that I've found particularly helpful:

Stay away from dropshipping. Don't gouge folks by charging outrageous shipping fees. Ship fast. Use priority mail with delivery confirmation and be careful when you accept a paypal payment and ship to an unconfirmed address.
Instead of looking for "cheap" stuff to sell, look for quality products that will please the buyer and yet are still priced low enough for you to make a profit (and the buyer to feel they're getting a fabulous bargain). Sound impossible? It's not! You have to be a "shopper" that can sniff out a good deal from miles and miles away!
Garage sales, yard sales, estate sales and liquidation auctions are great places to find BIG bargains. Check your local newspaper and get started!!!!!
Give me a shout if I can be of assistance, and GOOD LUCK!

The best-selling items on eBay are unique items. Do you have any special talents that you can use that the majority of the population would not be able to utilize? For example, someone with some woodshop experience might sell an item such as a pennant frame - which cannot be bought in a store. Maybe you are a good sewer and can sell custom embroidered t-shirts and other clothing items.

There are some good answers so far. I've had quite a bit of luck with garage sale finds. All kinds of useful vintage items are around for pennies. I've made $48 on a pair of bookends I purchased for a quarter, and over $100 on a vintage sterling silver and turquoise earring and bracelet set I bought for a dollar. Recipes, special instructions that can be sent via email are also very good with no shipping involved. Good luck.

I do a lot of Ebay shopping and I think that selling stuff from China is a mistake because most people percieve it as being counterfeit or of poor quality. You'd be better off to purchase things like vintage guitars which would fetch a good sum of money...

Computer Accessories and peripherals seem to do well on eBay.
I have bought several USB drives and wireless mice there.
Most manufacturers will require large volume purchases. Search for wholesalers or suppliers who will sell in small lots.

Women gladly pay $1000 or more to simply go out on a date with me . Here is the deal . I will allow you to buy me wholesale for $700 and re-sell me for whatever you want. You could easily double your money on the 1st sale then you could afford to experiance the thrill.

i personally think that dowloadable products like ebooks and softwares sell the most. All you do is buy 1 product and easily resell that one single product to thousands of ppl, with resell rights of course. and the best part is u dont have to go through any hassle of shipping or insurance.
try buying one those ebooks with resell rights. use the website below.
