I also had hand pain in pregnancy. My ob-gyn explained that some women get a temporary form of Carpal - Tunnel Syndrome. That could be the problem. Or if you are retaining a lot of water or just have severe swelling of the hands, that could cause pain. Call your doc ASAP.Try ice as a temporary pain reliever or soak your hands in cool water.

if the pain is alover the arm then its not Carpel tunnel syndrome. If its localised to your wrist n forearm it could be.take a alternating hot n cold water bath on the area of pain for 15 20 min.

If stroking over the skin of your hand aggrevates the pain its bcoz of high level of hormones that are making the sensory nerve endings of the hairy part of your hands highly sensivite.avoid any such strokes on the hairy part n try masaging your palms n opposite side (i.e non hairy areas)n relax.(if your hubby cud do that using the cushioned area of his palms it would be wonderful)

Just try to relax the more you get tensed the more will be the pain.dont worry it will subside.all the best.

I am in agreement with the other answers....it is either a temp Carpal Tunnel...or Fluid Retention....call ur OB/GYN & ask what should be done...I wore my hands in Ace wraps alot...it helped to relieve some of the tension..

i used to get the same thing with my hands and they would feel real itchy too. it's probably just a lack of blood flow to your hands and feet which is not uncommon in pregnancy.
on the other hand it can be an indicator of high blood pressureand u will need to tell u dr or midwife. have it checked out to make sure, it it could be fine but then it could be high blood pressure. tell ur doctor and he can make sure u and baby are ok. good luck.

Its either carpal tunnel syndrome or fluid retention.

In case it is fluid retention, why is it so severe? GO CHECK YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE! It could be an early sign of pre-eclampsia

Towards the end of your pregnancy, your body starts to retain water. I would try propping your feet up and trying to stay off your
feet. Hopefully, that will help.

Your sleeping on them! And your not getting enough calcium. I would also eat Jell-o if I were you. For Gelatin, which is good for your hands.

Try this, it will make you feel better! Red jello and milk! mmm

I promise.

I'm thinking pre-eclampsia....you need to see your doc ASAP. If it is pre-eclampsia, it can be very dangerous for you and the baby!!
