As others have mentioned, in the movie Tombstone, Johnny Ringo is portrayed as being the most deadly of the cowboys (he also does the little gun spinning routine in the movie to show off how well he can handle a pistol). In the movie, Doc Holliday is saying that Ringo has a faster draw than Earp and would kill him if they fought. So instead, Doc goes to fight (and kill) Ringo.
That is how it was portrayed in the movie. However, in real life, Wyatt Earp was probably the better gunfighter than Doc Holliday (who had a volatile temper, but was not known as a particulary quick or accurate gunman). And both of them were probably better than Johnny Ringo whose credentials as a top gunfighter are largely the fabrication of over-dramatic movies and books (many of which show Ringo as being both a deadly killer and very well educated).
Historian Jack Burrows did extensive research into the real story behind John Ringo and could not find any hard evidence that he ever killed anybody or was a particularly feared or accomplished gunman. He did wound somebody in a drunken arguement in Safford and was a bit player in the Mason County Wars of Texas, but he did not play a significant role in the Tombstone fights and was not at the Ok Corral. Also the real John Ringo did like to read, but he could not speak Latin, nor did he have any advanced education.
John Ringo was found sitting dead beneath a tree in the Chiricahua Mtns east of Tombstone with a bullet in his head a few weeks after the Earps and Holliday left Arizona. Nobody really knows who shot him (or if he shot himself). Some writers claim that Earp quietly returned to Arizona and shot Ringo, but this is very unlikely for a number of reasons (the Earps were known to be in Colorado at the time) and very few serious historians place much truth in it. While a few people have suggested that Holiday might have killed Ringo, this is even less likely than the Earps and there is no evidence to support it.

Doc was well aware of Wyatt's shooting ability. And he knew how fast Ringo was too. Wyatt wasn't good enough to beat Ringo and Doc knew it. He was warning his friend to stay out of a fast-draw duel if possible. That was the movie where Val Kilmer played Doc.

according to the movie, Johnny Ringo was an accomplished killer. Plus all that cool gun stuff he did in the bar should have served as a warning. That's from Tombstone.

on principle I would say the tombstone move was right...
the principle being that Costner took one of the greatest westerns ever and turned into a farce.. designed to make him look good and FAILED
I loved tombstone great flick!
Someone needs to tell costner that a move doesn't need to be 5 hours long to be good...

Because he had a big whole in the center of him and that he was angry. Wyatt "Angry about what?" Doc "angry about being born."
