your right it is actually 10 months, 40 weeks is how long a full term pregnancy is, i think they say 9 months because the first month the baby is just a whole bunch of cells its not an actual baby, so i guess the nine months is taken from the time the fetus first begins to grow human segments. im looking at my pregnancy book it says here that the fetus does not grow human like parts until the 5th wekk so maybe thats why they say 9 months.

Mostly people stay with in the 36 to 38 range. Some earlier, some later. I'm not sure why most people say 9 months, but my doctors always said 40 weeks, which is more accurate than saying 9 months. But you are right, it's more 10.

Its 40 weeks.
Most people deliver before 40 weeks - hence the age old belief that pregnancy is normally 9 months.
An accurate answer to your question is:
(40/52) X 12 = 9.23 months

Yes it is 10 months/40 weeks from conception... that is how your Doctor will calculate for a due date... an ultrasound can get the due date closer just in case you were off a few days on your conception date

They count it from the actual last day of missed period and from there it is nine months. But technically, we do carry baby for 10 months.

yeh ur right but they count it all different so its only 9months but the last month goes for 6 weeks instead of 4.
and they don't go from conterception they go from the first day of ur last period if they did they it would add up to 9months not 10months
