you can't always smell alchohol! Vodka is odorless for one. There are pH tester strips for drugs, maybe you could find for alcohol. Never leave your drink unattended, never take a drink offered, always get your own.

You can't really. The best thing to do is to bring your own beverage(s) and make sure only you touch them. Don't leave them out or anything. Usually you can smell the alcohol, but some alcoholic beverages have light smells (like vodka). So I would just bring your own drinks.

Not really - but if you don't trust the people around you not to pour alcohol in your drink, then you need to consider different friends.

You smell them. It is very easy to tell since the odor of alcohol is so strong.

There's the taste test. But that isn't exactly 100% effective.

It would smell of alcohol if there is any, but normally they dont contain any.
