Everytime i get on yahoo.com and look at the news section, i always see stuff about Iraq and gay marriages and immigrants etc. and im wondering why isnt our Gov. focusing on more logical issues such as GAS PRICES! Or can somebody tell me a good explanation why we are still in Iraq? I kno we are fighting the war on terror, but we got Iran over here with nuclear weapons! And china's econmy is skyrocketing and soon i doubt we will be considered the superpower anymore. Anyone hav any thoughts on these topics? (didnt mean to offend anyone if i did)

They are doing this on purpose! They do this thinking (and it works on most) that we will start to focus on different things besides what really matters...the war we are in. The Government is bringing us down and they are making us all fight against one another. Look at the issues they are focusing on...gay marriages...illegal immigrants....abortion...they want an uproar and they want all eyes OFF of them!

Makes sense...it's like a child blaming someone else for lying.

Gay marriage is suddenly on the agenda because of midterm elections coming up. It's the issue that Republicans can rely on to get support. Iraq should be an issue- an illegal war shouldn't be pushed aside by the media. The other problem is that the media seem more interested in providing shock entertainment to sell more adspace than informing the people. There are so many important issues that just get ignored but that's because they aren't as popular.

I say this almost every night in answer to some question or other: It really IS about having us look the other way on the REAL major issues. What did my man a few spaces up call it? a "red herring"? That's exactly it!! If we started demanding answers and/or help from our government for the things that are REALLY troubling--like gas prices, unemployment, the "uneducated masses" graduating from what we have the nerve to call "schools", social security, etc. etc.--they might actually have to answer to the people who elected them, or face being voted out.

What's goin' on? Marvin Gaye asked this years ago...and the answers are still out there to see if everyone would open their eyes and stop being blinded by the red herrings being tossed to us as if we were sea lions on a remote rock, ie. abortion "reform", gay marriage, flag laws, "patriotism" etc.

There have been news on gas prices but lately not as much. For example, a week ago it was posted that, over the summer gas will go up. The whole world has been stuck in the death of the man in Iraq that ploted the Twin Towers incident and so forth.

There is nothing we can do short of stop driving cars and no one is willing to give up vacations and shopping at malls etc. Bush has Iraq in suck a mess now it will be hard to pull out but they don't want us there and they are right. Terrorism is here and always will be. You can never win a war on terror. Bush will have it so messed up just so they can blame it on the president in 08.

Wellll I hate to sound cynical..... With ole uncle George being an oilman, it's natural that-seeing his action causing an increase in his interest's profit- (ie: HIS profit) He only seems to redouble that action. With half the factors determining gas prices being speculation and futures exchange, political/military influence can help secure fuel sources, but muddy the waters and make investors nervouse. It's a win-win for the oil company executives.

thank you for the "intelligent" question

i have a suggestion: lets close down the borders, cut all political, economical and traditional ties with all other nations, and bring all of the troops from every singel country home to america.

THEN would you stop whining?
