Start out with 3 minutes... every day, add a minute. You may slightly burn one day, if so, lay off for a day... but pick back up where you left off. If not, try to rest your skin for atleast one day a week. Do this until you work your way up to 20 minutes. By then you should be on your way. Lay every day after for about 10 days. After 10 days, lay every other day for a week or so, then work your way down to about 2-3 days per week to maintain.

I have fair skin and that's what I do every spring... by summer I'm copper bronze dark..... it's really better to keep it up all year round if you can.

*note.. try to mix natural sun in with the process (like on weekends) as it will make your tan look superior.

*note... if you DO burn, don't let it scare you.. next time it won't be as bad as long as you get right back with it.

***note... tanning IS NOT a response to burning... it's only your body's natural release of melanin... however, burning does damage to your skin after many many burns, that's why it's important that you should build up the release of melanin so that you won't be as suseptable to a burn in the future.

****Another note.... One spoke of UV rays....... what do you think you get when you walk outside during the day? it's essential for our bodies to have sunlight. Don't listen to that "Anti sunlight" "Anti Wrinkle crap"..... building your immunity to sunlight and releasing melanin DECREASES your chances of skin cancer. Tanning is not as bad as what people claim it is... it's actually beneficial, as long as you don't over do it.

********* Sorry, but I get sick of seeing these people trash tanning when there has to be someone keeping the tanning industry in business. ******* (Same with smokers, but that's another topic)

No. It'll take too long, you'll spend too much money, and you can still burn! (There's also the risk of the health of your skin, but that's up to you to worry about).
A better alternative is to use one of the lotions that gradually give you a tan. These lotions actually are giving you a REAL TAN...they are activating the tanning process in your skin; it's not just a dye. You can go with the original Jergens Natural Glow, or any of the products made by various brands, with the same technology.
If you're worried about how much time it takes for these lotions to take effect, remember that all you have to do is apply it once a day in the convenience of your own home, where a tanning salon requires you to actually drive to another location and lay down naked in a bed shared by others...AND, the tanning salon process is very gradual...you won't actually notice it for a few weeks, and others won't notice for a few months.

I'm pasty too and have tried tanning beds. I only burn. If you're anything like me you'll just turn red and damage your skin. If you really want to look tan, I'd recommend a sunless tanner....there are lots of great products out there now.

A definate no. Tanning beds emit UVA rays which may not burn you but they can cause cancer and will give you early wrinkles. Plus, the fake'n'bake orange is hardly attractive. Instead, be proud of who you are. We live in a diverse world where there are people of all colours. If you want your tan, get it by spending time being active outdoors.

hi, take this from a freckle monster. i does not get the spray tans. whenever you look into those human beings all you imagine is pretend spray tan. you may not say it, yet each and every man or woman thinks it. once you're dwindled, human beings do not forget that it truly is puzzling to tan for individuals like you and me and also you because this style of impressive form of individuals are like that. Getting a pretend tan merely sends off the incorrect photo, and it truly is undesirable.

No. Tanning is the body's response to *damage* caused by ultraviolet radiation. Why deliberately inflict that damage? Just embrace your pastiness. It was fashionable in the 1800's, and it'll be fashionable again someday.

Tanning beds are utterly passe. Authoritative, irrefutable information about the health risks is widely disseminated these days. Only idiots pay to play this game of Russian Roulette.

NONOONONONONONONONO it's so bad for your skin!!!!! I guess, if you always wanted to get skin cancer, then yeah, go for it. P.S. The "extremely pasty" are more prone to skin cancer. It's just bad, I beg of you don't do it.
