Why is there no "straight pride?" Gays and lesbians have the "pride." Hell, they even have their own "colors"- Where is the "straight pride?" Where are the straight people's "colors?"

It comes from the fact that homosexuality is perceived as 'shameful' by much of our society, while heterosexuality is not. Despite being shunned, gays are increasingly coming forth (out of the closet?) and saying that they are not ashamed or intimidated, but in fact proud of their lifestyle and willing to deal with the consequences of announcing it... thus, 'Gay Pride'.

Because shame has never been a factor in a heterosexual society, it's a little ridiculous to proclaim that you are not intimidated by the minority and are willing to put a so-called 'accepted lifestyle' on public display. A bit redundant, don't you think?

But I suspect you pretty much know all that Josh, and are fishing for an answer from someone with a socio-political stance similar to the one you already have.

KristinB should fill the bill...

ES, glad you thought it was funny, but your answer is a weak non sequitur. Your 'seeking what is right' comment is exactly my point. There was no real 'question' here, just someone looking for validation for their preconceptions.

I addressed this question as to the purpose of a minority proclamation of pride vs a majority's reason for doing so (ie, it's redundant). Feel free to argue that point. I'm curious as to what YOU think is 'right' and which part of my explanation you disagree with.
Eh?

Anglos represent their pride. Go to the South and you see the Confed. flags or the Irish American (white) who celebrate their cultural pride. The same is with many different culturals. If you are not proud of that then that's on you. As for str8 pride it is exemplified in our society 24/7, in advertising, television, the general public. If str8 people want colors go for it!

The last time I checked, straight people were not oppressed for being so. Sometimes minorities need to express themselves to help others understand and to feel a part of society. Straight people are not a minority.

I dont think there is such a thing. Just like white people cant express their pride of being white because then we are automatically racist.

LOL! Funny answer, Nadaclue. I suppose that you attempt to discredit all of your political opponents as merely 'seeking similar people' as opposed to 'seeking what is right'.
