Falling is free and requires no effort. All you have to do is let go. You can be lazy about it. Getting up requires effort and concentration and you may not feel like getting up after falling because you feel broken.

When we fall we are not expecting to. If the expectation was there then we would not fall, who would? The only case that anyone would fall intentionally would be when they fall in love.

If you were to physically fall on the ground, you would have to get up and deal with the embarassment and try to laugh it off as you would not want it to seem like it is a such a big deal. The same applies to life issues. When we fall we want to rebound as fast as we can and get over something fast. However, that is the way we live today. Everything is fast, our DSL connection to the internet, the Tivo where you can fast forward through commercials and so on. When it comes to the human condition we are still on slow mode as it takes time to heal completely on a emotional and mental level.

The question is why is it hard to get up? I am not sure if there is this wow that answers the question of life deal. Just life can be hard and things in us, around us and about us cannot simply be skipped over to the happy ending. If so, we would never become strong individuals.

If your talking about life. Then I'll say this...it's easy because most of the time we don't know we are falling until we already on the ground. It's hard to get back up because everyone has a different way of getting up. We as people let others influence our help. You have to learn to help yourself. If your letting other people help ya then it will be hard. But if you make up your mind that its time to get up then it won't be hard.

That's just the way life is. Oh we fall so easily in life, but getting back up is what makes you or breaks you. I chose to get back up no matter how hard I fell. I might wallow in self pity for a couple seconds and then I have to snap back out of it, cuz my Momma didn't raise no loser. If my Momma can survive all she's been thru then why can't I be strong like her! My Momma is our rock. God gave her to us and when she's no longer here, sometimes I think how will I ever survive?

But you know what I will, cuz she would want me too. She'd want me to be strong and continue on. I'm just glad I have her to show me that I need to be strong to survive.

Falling offers the chance to learn from your 'mistake'. Getting up requires the hard work of learning. Most people do not want to learn.

Is it a metaphor? If so, it's just that there's more effort involved in getting up, plus the added strain of the fear of failure tacked on.
Hope I answered your question.

Gravity pulls harder than our effort to rise.
