I am mexican and I am disturbed by what I saw in the media about the mexican family that was murdered by afro-americans. But, I have Afro-American friends. The media such as CNN or Fox likes to portray afro-americans or hispanics on criminals causing hatred.

I think that when an act of violence occurs. It is the job of the police to handle the situation and the media should not broadcast things that most of us do not want to hear. All it does is it causes friction towards others, even though none of us had anything do with it. I have african-american friends and I feel sorry for them since they had nothing to do with it and it portrays all blacks as criminals which is wrong.

I know how the feel, because the american media loves to broadcast negative news about hispanics. Media causes racism. Media should not broadcast it. Let the police handle it without the newscoverage.

"If it bleeds, it leads" is a comman News slogan. The news is inherently negative. But apperently, they think that's what people want, otherwise they'd be leading with different stuff. It is their business, afterall, to get as many people as poss. to watch their show instead of the other guys.

But it seems to go out of it's way to not be racist. Typically, when they tell a story, I don't know whose black, hispanic, or white, until the video is played. They only seem to tell the race of a person when racial tension is part of the story, or when they are giving a description of the subject at large.

Oddly, racism is most evident (although, still subtle) when they focus on white, upper-class criminals. "Nobody expected a murderer (rapist, whatever) living in this nice neighborhood." Makes me think they mean "we expect this in black neighborhoods, but not here."

The media's job is to bring the news to us...good, bad, or otherwise. And, the media does not create racism...bigotry creates racism. Here's a scenerio...suppose a serial killer is on the loose and the media does not report it. Personally, I want to know what is going on not only in my area, but also throughout the world. As a former newspaper editor/publisher, my readers expressed appreciation for the news, whether good, bad, or otherwise.

It is only so people will read it...and you did. There will all ways be rats out in the world that think they are better than everyone else.Take for instance in my country Australia,it is about where you live and what kind of clothes you wear, your house etc.,I do not get into this crap as long as you are comfortable in life that is enough. There are little children in Africa and other places in the world do not have anything to eat from one day to the other,it doesn't make sense to me,it should be every humans right to have enough food, clothing and a roof over their head.

I personally think that they show too much junk on TV. I don't believe it causes racism but I don't think having a bunch of news media crud really helps any situations either.

The media does not cause racism, but they certainly push it along.

When you hear the phrase "welfare queen", most people think of a black woman. Whites abuse the system just as much as anyone else.

"Illegals" are Mexicans, but the Asians can be just as illegally here.
