Circles are a symbol of something that has no begining or end.
It can symbolize forever. That's how friendship ideally will be.

In many pagan rituals groups of friends would circle in a dance, hand in hand. This image comes to mind when I think of circle of friends...that and Edie Brickell's "Circle of Friends" song.

Women also used to join social groups called "Circles" back in the days when they didn't work. They were church related. I thinking quilting circles existed too.

This could be a dissertation if you did the research. Be kind of interesting.

It's like a "click".....or a circle of friends...telling someone you know that click over there....It's just an expression that the person you are talking to knows!!
