Human societies will always have an interest in regulating social conduct in a way that allows most people to live in peace. Murder, rape, incest, etc. are not in the general social interest, so the majority of people will oppose these things. Your question presupposes that the prime source of moral conduct is belief in god and sin. Yet there are tribal societies that do not have a concept of sin as part of their religion, yet they have the same interest as other societies do in regulating people's moral conduct. In your paper it might be a good idea to explore what the sources of morality are. For example, empathy is one of them - most people feel some degree of distress when they see another person in distress, so one source of moral conduct is emotional. Criminals tend to lack empathy for the suffering of others, hence they do not feel guilt when they hurt others. Empathy does not require belief in god or sin.

There will always be evil people...maybe you should 1st read the Bible then write your paper...you can't slam something down that you obviously don't know anything about. There is a reason for sin and a reason fo forgiveness. If there were an anarchy people would be running around causing all sorts of chaos. An anarchy would be without a Gov. and with out the Gov. there wouldn't be a structure....without structure and laws people would be doing whatever they wanted...even though the Gov. is corrupted. Murders, rapes, incest and what not are proven to have been committed by people who are sick in the head not religious people knowing their get forgiven. God didn't create sin...the Devil did. It was mans choice for it to be placed amoung us. Good-luck finding something intellegent to write about.

Whether there is a God or not is not related to whether there is a sin or not. There are different types of Gods. In Christianity, God is the Spirit of Goodness, Holiness, and Love combined (a.k.a the Creator of Heaven and Earth). In Hindu / Buddhism/ Shintoism, there are various of gods: Spirit of the wind, earth, fire, water, sun, moon, you name it. They also worship the Spirit of Goodness (sounds familiar?), the Spirit of Patience, the Spirit of Harvest, the Spirit of Wealth, the Spirit of Child-bearing, etc. They also believe in the Spirit of anger, darkness, etc... (in Christianity, the Spirit of darkess is called Satan). Take notice that Christianity, Islam, and Jewish are of the same root. So these 3 religions believe and worship the same God and fight Satan.
Sin is basically an action that caused grief/ chaos to self/ other people in the end.
God is a spiritual being that someone's worship. So yeah... some people have different Gods, depending of what kind of "Spirit" they want to worship.
If lets say there is no Spirit of Goodness... will there be a sin? totally. Not the other way around.
By the way, people = people... and God = God. If people sin... that does not mean there is no God. Because they are not the same.

No that's just silly. Most Atheists don't commit crimes on a day to day basis and they don't believe in any god. In fact, many of the people in Jail are very religious, they think that because a higher power forgives them that they are no longer monsters for the horrible things they have done, they take comfort in religion even if they have murdered dozens. I think that crime would go down, further more many rapists use god to justify their actions to themselves, they think that because women were created for them they can do what ever they want with women, like we're property or something.
I think the world would be better off if it was proven that god doesn't exist. Maybe more people would turn to Buddhism and work on improving themselves in their daily lives then mucking about trying to convert everyone else.

Look into philosphy (Plato's Republic, Augustine) and prove that even w/out sin, people have a soul that must balance in order to be at peace. A person still has a sense of morality and must abide by this natural sense to have inner peace. It is belieaved that an unbalanced soul drives a person insane. Good luck with your paper!

Creationists state that Atheists cannot prove that god does not exist. This argument is inherently faulty.
It is logically impossible to prove that an object or event does not exist. However, it is the essence and the backbone of science to provide evidence that something does exist. If something exists, such as energy, matter or space, it manifests itself to us by objective evidence. We can measure such manifestations.
Only persons, who do not utilize logic, will accept as true statements that are completely unsupported by factual evidence. Yet, this form of irrationality and lack of fundamental logic is the foundation of all religions. Since approximately 80 % of the world population accepts the completely unsubstantiated statements of various religions, 80 % of the world population suffers from a severely distorted and thus ineffective worldview.

To begin, crimes and all kind of bad things existed before God was invented (as a mononuclear estructure). And also people who didn't make bad things. I think that the idea , in abstract, of the man , as a man who does bad things by nature, or as a man who doesn't do bad thing by nature is innocent.
The main difference for doing good or bad, know are social values, moral values, and ethic values....and those are determinated by society and individuality (both of the parts).
And also people who don't contemplate God as an important part of their lives have those aspects!!!
The true is, that social values, moral values, and ethic values are related to God, only for people who believed in God; others, don't relate it to him or her or it.
I hope it will help you.

I know of atheists who are very moral and they live good lives. I know the opposite as well. Then, I know sinners who see a cross and are very afraid and do good things, but only as long as they see the icon. As for me, I think I would become very depressed if I didn't have the faith of religion. For me, it's more spirituality. I believe very strongly. I feel a strong vibe from those around me that have "real" faith. They don't even have to tell me that they believe. I just feel it. I think this is very Jungian. Once I speak to them, I know they believe. I usually ask and sometimes they tell without my asking. We don't go on at length. It's just there. Most people have conscious and they don't realize this is their spirit. The spirit is there to guide them. Think. If we are born of God, then we all have God within ourselves. It's a matter of our using the faith he gave us.

I think No one has seen God & God is nothing but our faith & belief .
Sins will not increase just because god is not there .
It is human being's self concious which makes him do sins or going away from sins.
So it doesn't matter if We believe that God is here or God is not here If our concious allows us to commit crime no one can stop but if it stops us then no one can compell us .

how do you figure no God-no sin? All the crimes you mention will always exist as they always have. People who do those things don't care if there is a god or not.
