For example, by torture. Does the end justify the means?
I say: Hell yes!!!! We must be prepared to suffer a bit to combat this scourge of terror. Example: If one of my family or friends is in mortal danger, and I know or suspect that you know something that could rescue or save them, prepare yourself for a lot of pain in a very short time.
If you really don´t know anything, I´ll know soon enough. You´ll have some very swollen testicles, or some missing digits or limbs, but that´s life, I'll apologise from the bottom of my heart, and you can sue me! This doesn´t mean that I would go around torturing people for the fun of it.

The reason I am torturing this person is to find out IF he knows anything; I don´t have time to 'keep him in a cell for 24 hrs!'
I see we have some ´bleeding hearts' answering. I don´t watch the idiots on Fox and I think that woman (Coulter) is an utter fool, so there!
Dogbreath, your name suits you.
When are (some) people going to realise that these terrorists don´t give a SH+T for the Geneva Convention, and we are NOT going to defeat them by being nice to these murdering thugs. Enough is enough, if you harbour terrorists, take what's coming. We cannot continue to live in fear. (I can't)

Candied Arsenic: Where did you get that name? You will never cook for me. I am not talking about 'electric shocks', I am talking about good heavy duty pliers, chain saws and things like that. Observe the words 'suspect or know'.

Let me tell you the reason for my 'strong' view. I am a South African living in Colombia. I see and read about terrorism and kidnappings every day. I am really a peace loving person (hence the name) but what price peace? There will only be peace if EVERY ONE of these murdering bastards is dead, and I really don't care how. People far away from daily terror just don´t get it.

I agree with you. I am a liberal, but that doesn't mean that I don't think there are bad people out there who must be stopped. As long as torture and other harsher ways of getting information are used with discretion I think they have a place in the world.

The ends don't always justify the means. The way in which the goal is accomplished must be done in a way that does the least amount of harm. For example, if you had a prisoner who would give the information after being in solitary confinement for a day then using electric shocks to get the prisoner to talk would be wrong. However, if there were no other way to get the information and it meant saving a lot of people then electric shocks may be necessary.

So far, the Liberal media are finding fault withthe USA for killing this modern day Hitler. This is a guy who beheaded 17 people. He is the guy who stopped a school bus, separated the children, and then killed the 4 kids that he felt should die. He was a horrible example of something I can't fathom. There is nothing we can do to make the bleeding heart Liberals face facts. They hate President Bush so much, I'm afraid they would have rather found out that HE had been killed. I

First of all, you can not rely on any information obtained by torture because the person on the receiving end will tell you whatever they think you want to know, whether it is true or not.
Secondly, when we torture people, we are no better than the barbarian terrorists themselves.
WE are the ones that are supposed to be civilized.

Is your neck red?
You're a cretin. Keep taking the tablets, watch Fox news and listen to Rush Limbaugh. Read Ann Coulter and vote in Republican primaries. Apply for a job as a benefits fraud agent, Mexican border guard patrol, or public executioner. Enjoy a happy and unfulfilled life.

I tend to be a bleeding heart but I agree with you. By any means necessary -- I'm sick of seeing families cry over killed soliders. Time to take of the kid glove and be the mean and cruel Americans our history says we are. They care nothing for us and will hurt again if given the chance

And what if people honestly don't know? You will torture a person to get an answer that will never be there? That IS torturing a person for fun.

What bleeding hearts are you talking about? I hate that kind of divisive speech. Everyone I know, Dem or Repub, is glad that Zarkawi is dead. Don't try to make it a political issue.
