Of course!!
Adventurous mathematicians loves go off on a tangent because it allows them to investigate new things... Otherwise, maths would be boring and would be taking about the same, always, but they're not!!!
If you study (or have studied) more than the horrible and mechanic maths taught undercollege you will know it.

Have you ever listened to a mathematician? None of them are adventurous and they ALL go off on tangents.

Of course they are adventuresome. This is why they carry a compass everywhere they go. You never know when you might need direction in your life. Afterall, there might not always be a Sin to tell you where to go while off on your tangent. But adventurous mathematicians must be aware of wild animals. They never know when they might spot a Hypotenuse.
