Welllllll, your question, as worded, is a paradox. A catch-22. If ones willing to die for their freedom, their only freedom they REALLY have is to die.
If losing, or not getting freedom was a threat to my family and friends, I'd die for that. I think you'll find that most people who fight over an ideal do so for the benefit of their loved ones. The old addage about there being "no greater act of love, than a cat dying to protect her kittens" The same is true for use humans. Anything else would let the survival instinct take over. Many would submit rather than die. The same person would usually fight ferociously to keep the same thing from happening to his family.

I don't think you can achieve personal freedom by dying. However, thank God that many men and women are willing to fight for your freedom and mine.
I agree with General Patton who said that war is not about dying for your country. It's about making the other guy die for his. That being said, war is hell, and good people die as well as bad ones.

Yep. That's why I enlisted in 1998. When the freedom part started to come into question, I got out.

It depends if you're talking of a specific freedom or freedom in general or all freedoms. If it were a specific freedom, it would depend on whether or not it effects me. If it was freedom in general, maybe. If it was all freedoms, then yes, probably.

So far everyone is taking the Patriot Act lying down...
As always, no one will raise a voice until the problems hit them directly
