Why do you kick your car when it breaks down? Why do you shake your mouse when your computer freezes?

That is so true, we had been doing that for the past few days when we thought to change the batteries. I think it's because you don't change them for so long that when the time comes you've forgotten that the blasted thing even takes batteries.

I think the answer to your question is human nature. I also think another great question is why will one search the entire house to find the remote, but never just get up to change the channel?

It's just a natural reaction, like driving faster to get to the nearest petrol station quicker when you are very low on petrol
