If you stand far away from the beach or the ocean, all the colors join together and that made one solid color. The deeper the ocean, the darker the blue, the closer or less deep to you, the water is clearly clear. This could also be the reflection of the sky since the sky is blue. Temperature may also cause this to happen.Like the Bahamas, the water is clear base on the heatness, if the water is dark blue; that's the coldness of the water and the depth of it. Strange huh?

The ocean often looks blue because sunlight shines on tiny particles suspended in the water. Along the shores of some areas, however, the water looks green because the blue water is mixed with yellow pigments present in floating plants.

Some oceans exhibit other colors:

The Black Sea looks black because it has little oxygen and a high concentration of hydrogen sulfide.

The Red Sea looks red because it contains seasonal blooms of algae that color the surface water red.

The Yellow Sea looks yellow because it contains a yellow mud carried into it by adjoining rivers.

Thus, due to the way we perceive the water~we color the clear water blue to mimic nature. Nature is pleasing and relaxing~~it makes us happy~

1. Tthe water surface reflects the sky since you can see the clouds too.
2.The depth of the water, would make the difference on how dark the water is.
3. Components in the water affect the absorbtion of sunlight, since sunlight has many colors. Different things like mud, or peat.
4.Deeper waters also absorb certain colors better then others.

well some water actually is blue. lake water is dark and murkey. ocean water is blue or blueish green. also pictures wouldn't be nearly as pretty if the water was colored clear. it is the next best alternative.

because most water reflects the blue sky above, or is an aqua marine color because of the plants below the waves.

because sometimes the water is actually dirty and just appears a different color. or its just a lot easier than really having no answer at all for the clearness. that is a really good question that really has no right answer. congrats
