Is this just a myth created by men to make women feel bad for them and possibly have sex with them?

And why is it called BLUE balls? Blue as in sad?

Blue balls:
Blue balls is a slang term for a temporary fluid congestion in the testicles and prostate region caused by prolonged sexual arousal in the human male. It is most commonly associated with adolescents but can occur in any sexually mature male. It is often accompanied by a cramp-like ache of prostatic congestion and pain/tenderness of the testes.

Cause:
The main cause of blue balls is prolonged sexual stimulation of the erect penis, either by direct or indirect contact, that does not result in orgasm and ejaculation.

During arousal in a sexually mature male, the sympathetic nervous system decreases its inputs to the genital tissues, resulting in increased blood flow to the testicles and prostate areas. As this happens, other fluid outflow muscles constrict, causing more bodily fluid to enter the area than leave, ensuring a high enough regional blood pressure to allow a sustained erection for penetration during sexual intercourse.

If orgasm is not achieved, blood and lymphatic fluid tend to pool, and the blood becomes oxygen deprived. In some men, this pooling of oxygen-starved blood may result in a bluish tint to the scrotum.

Men with priapism or orchalgia may experience an extreme, prolonged form of blue balls, which may require medical attention.

MYTH-
A common misconception is that "blue balls" is a myth propagated by young men solely as an excuse to pressure a reluctant partner into sexual activity. While they may use it as an excuse to such an end, the blue balls phenomenon is real

did you know there is a town in Pennsylvania called Blue Balls? I swear! Check out the link. Oh, and by the way, it is true. He gets a bluish tinge to his testicles after he 'makes out' or are sexually aroused for several hours -- and a deep, uncomfortable ache that goes along with it. This is the result of pelvic congestion, when more blood and lymph flows into the genitals (during sexual arousal) than flows out; and, when it remains in the genitals for an extended period of time, then it CAN cause discomfort and aching. If there is no release, the area remains engorged. Without any outflow, men may feel slight discomfort in the testes, which are very sensitive to these kinds of changes. Some guys do not actually 'turn blue', but feel the discomfort. Actually, it's not the testicles that are blue, it's the skin of the scrotum. When he's aroused blood flows not only to the penis, but to the entire area. The longer he stays aroused, the longer the blood stays there. Newer blood is red, but older blood, which has less oxygen, is darker red, but not really blue -- that's why your testicles appear to contain more blue blood. There is fresh blood in there also, do not fear. Orgasm does alleviate blue balls. If there is no orgasm, however, the erection, blood flow and aches will subside. It's not harmful to get blue balls, so don't run to the emergency room. If the condition lasts for hours or days after he's stopped being sexually aroused, then see a health care professional.

Maybe the "take a cold shower" advice that fathers or other guys have given to males over the years may help the situation. Just a guess. The cool water of the shower would stimulate new warm blood to the scrotum. Guys don't get "blue balls" every time they get aroused and do not ejaculate. If you don't get this "condition" that is okay too.
(By the way, "blue balls" have been used as a way for males to pressure females into having sex, or into "getting them off". Now girls, don't feel pressured into this old scam, you can refuse AND boys can always masturbate (with or without you). You should never be pressured into having sex! Never, never, never!!! End of that lecture. :)

It's definately NOT a myth. And they had to call the sensation SOMEthing! I'm going to venture a guess and say the 'blue' part is because blue is the color you turn when you're not getting enough oxygen, so it's associated with starvation of something...Hence, blue balls. It's just a guess though haha I didn't do any research on blue balls. But maybe you should? ;)

Blue Balls is not a myth. The pain can range from mild, like some one is thumping them, to excruciating, like they are stuck in a vice. The pain can be relieved if you catch it early and ejaculate or it will eventually go away if you stop thinking sexy thoughts.

In my experience, I've only really got them when I was doing heavy petting or dry humping. They are not really easy to get and you don't get them often, so I would say men try to play the guilt card. Since they know women are aware of this problem, they might use it as a lame attempt to get some action.

I don't know why they are called "blue". My hunch is that it refers to the the expansion of the veins around them..like the term "Blue vein monster".

The term 'Blue Balls', from my best guess, comes from the sensation that something is clogging the balls, feeling like the circulation is being cut off. Hence the 'blue' of a lack of circulation.

I have experienced it myself, not from my girlfriend, but on my own, during a frantic last-minute search for a towel. So it does exist, but any guy who uses it as an excuse to get sex is just trying to make the girl feel guilty, since he knows he can relieve it on his own without too much trouble.

Blue Ball, Pennsylvania is very near Bird In Hand and Intercourse, all in Lancaster County. Blue Ball and Blue Balls both exist, and my understanding it is doubly intense if you have Blue Balls in Blue Ball. If you by pass Intercourse without going to Bird in Hand, you have to settle for Blue Ball.

Blue Balls occurs when a guy becomes sexually arouse and excited. arteries carrying blood to genital area expands.the uneven blood flow causes a rise of flow trapped in the genitals and add on to the penis and causing the penis to erect and the testicles to be filled with blood. If there is no ejaculation being done, the guy may feel a sensation of heaviness, aching, or discomfort in the testicles . that's what i read up before.

Yes it is real, and contrary to what other people have said the only way you can get rid of it is by ejaculating. You get sooo horny repeatedly over a short period of time that your balls just can not handle the pressure anymore.

Basically you gotta let that pressure out cause it can be painful.

No

It is when they get really horny and they can't get any sex, and they hold their sexual self in so long it hurt them and they call it the blue balls.
